Nicosia: Pafos FC ascended to the top of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan standings with a total of seven points, following a victory over AEK in Larnaca on Match Day 3 of the championship.
According to Cyprus News Agency, AEL clinched their second win of the season, joining AEK in second place with six points. Omonoia remained in fourth place with five points after a goalless draw with Apollon at GSP Stadium. Apollon, as well as Omonoia Aradippou and Omonia 29M, have also accumulated five points each.
In another significant game of Match Day 3, Anorthosis overcame APOEL with a 2-1 win at the 'Antonis Papadopoulos' Stadium, marking their first points of the season. This defeat marked APOEL's second loss.
The third round results were: Krasava ENY-Aris 0-1, Pafos FC-AEK 0-1, Olympiakos-Omonoia 29M 3-3, Anorthosis-APOEL 2-1, Omonoia-Apollon 0-0, Karmiotissa-Omonoia Aradippou 0-0, AEL-Nea Salamina 2-1.
The current standings are as follows: Pafos leads with 7 points, followed by AEK and AEL with 6 points each. Omonoia, Apollon, Omonoia Aradippou, and Omonia 29M each have 5 points. Aris holds 4 points, Anorthosis and Olympiakos have 3 points, APOEL also has 3 points, Karmiotissa stands with 2 points, Nea Salamina has 1 point, and Krasava ENY is yet to score with 0 points.
