Brussels: Professor of European Law and Reform and Dean of the School of Law at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) Cyprus, St©phanie Laulh© Shaelou, is expected to be appointed by the EU member states to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) as an Advocate General. Laulh© Shaelou will replace former Advocate General Nicholas Emiliou, who currently serves as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Emiliou's mandate as Advocate General was originally set to expire on 6 October 2027.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the appointment is anticipated to be officially confirmed on Friday. Additionally, the mandate of Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice, is also expected to be extended on the same day. His new term will span from 7 October 2027 to 6 October 2033.
