Flamoudi: Conservation work carried out by the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage has been completed at the Church of Saint George in Flamoudi village in Turkish occupied Karpasia, it was announced on Thursday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the works were co-financed by the European Union and implemented under the supervision of UNDP. The architectural design was carried out by Ozge Ozbekoglu and Christos Shiamaris.
In remarks, co-chairman of the Committee, Sotos Ktoris, stated that the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage works with the aim of reconciling the past with the future, investing in the vision of a Cyprus that honours its roots while simultaneously building bridges of peace and reconciliation for future generations.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and occupied the island’s northern third.
