ISTANBUL: The “Fact-Checking Journalism Training” organized by News Academy of Anadolu – a Turkish global news agency – for journalists associated with Qatar News Agency (QNA), began in Istanbul on Monday.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, which is being attended by six QNA journalists at the Istanbul office, Anadolu’s Global News Director Faruk Tokat said the news agency was established to effectively convey the voice of the Turkish people to the world.
Anadolu has 39 foreign bureaus, correspondents in 144 countries, and subscribers in 76 nations worldwide, he said, adding that it currently employs 143 different nationalities.
He also shared information on the agency’s international structure and operation, as well as its activities and goals.
He explained that Anadolu produces nearly 1,400 stories daily, along with over 4,000 photos and 350 videos, and that its subscribers receive an average of 22 live broadcasts per day, as well as 15 infographics.

ul visuals produced by Anadolu have a wide reach in the world media.
He also underlined that there would be a mutual sharing of experiences during the training.
Journalists to receive training in 9 topics
The training includes nine theoretical lessons, including Fact-Checking Journalism, Social Media Monitoring, Publication Principles in Fact-Checking Journalism, News Language in Fact-Checking Journalism, Visual Verification, Media Literacy, Digital Control, Cyber Security, and Media, Crisis Management, and Strategic Communication.”
The program will also include a two-hour Practice in Fact-Checking Journalism training session.
Some departments of Anadolu will be introduced to QNA press members.
The training will include visits to Trkiye’s Communications Directorate and Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).
The Fact-Checking Journalism Training, which will also include a cultural excursion, will conclude on Feb. 18.
