Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary reaffirms commitment of his country to positions of principle

Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, Lazsl? Kövér, reaffirmed on Thursday the commitment of his country to positions of principle, underlining that Hungary has friendly feelings and respects Cyprus.

Speaking during a meeting he had on Thursday with House of Representatives President, Annita Demetriou, Kövér, who is paying an official visit to Cyprus at Demetriou`s invitation, said, according to a House press release, that Hungary understands the meaning of occupation and the situation of refugees, as it has also experienced this traumatic situation, and understands the need for the EU to show concrete solidarity with Cyprus.

On her part, the House President thanked for the position of principles which Hungary maintains on the Cyprus problem and the country`s long-standing contribution to the UN peacekeeping force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).
