ISTANBUL: The S and P 500 and the Nasdaq closed lower Friday to end a six-day winning streak, but the exchanges managed to post gains for the week.
The S and P 500 was down three points, or 0.07%, to finish at 4,890 but increased 1.1% for the week.
The Nasdaq fell 55 points, or 0.36%, to end the day at 15,455. The tech-heavy saw a weekly increase of 0.9%.
The Dow Jones, on the other hand, rose 60 points, or 0.16%, to record a new all-time closing high of 38,109. The blue-chip index posted a weekly gain of 0.7%.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 1.4% to 13.26. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.3% to 4.142%.
The dollar index decreased 0.11% to 103.46, while the euro added 0.06% to $1.0852 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory with gold losing 0.14% to $2,018 per ounce and silver trimming 0.48% to $22.80.
Oil prices were on the rise, with global benchmark Brent crude adding 1.5% to $83.68 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude in
creasing 0.9% to $78.06.
