Secret Service investigating cocaine found at White House

The US Secret Service is investigating how cocaine was brought into the West Wing, a White House spokeswoman said Wednesday. “This is under the purview of the Secret Service, they are currently investigating what happened over the weekend,” Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters. “So I would have to refer you to the Secret Service on all of this.” She said President Joe Biden and his family were not at the White House during the weekend when the cocaine was reportedly found. “Where this was discovered is a heavily traveled area where many White House, West Wing — I should be even more specific — West Wing visitors come through this particular area,” she said. Noting that Biden was briefed by his staff on the incident, Jean-Pierre said: “We have confidence that the Secret Service is going to get to the bottom of this.” “When it comes to visitors to the West Wing, they come for many reasons, obviously we do have West Wing tours that occur here on campus,” she said, adding tours happen Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
