ISTANBUL: Saudi Arabia on Saturday reiterated its position on the Gaza conflict, calling for an immediate cease-fire and opposing the forced displacement of people in the besieged enclave, state news agency SPA reported.

Addressing the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, Deputy Foreign Minister Walid Al-Khuraiji underscored the kingdom’s “firm stance against the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the imperative of an immediate cease-fire, the delivery of relief aid, and the prevention of forced displacement of Gaza’s inhabitants.”

He said the Palestinian question will remain on the agenda of numerous meetings until an independent Palestinian state is established on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.

Saudi Arabia as well as many Western nations have advocated for Palestinian statehood, an idea consistently rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
