Royal Air Force pilot dies after aircraft crashes in Lincolnshire region of UK


ANKARA: A pilot has died after an aircraft crashed in a field near an Royal Air Force (RAF) base in Lincolnshire region of UK.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Langrick Road in Coningsby following reports the plane went down shortly before 1.20 p.m. local time.

“It is with great sadness that we must confirm the death of an RAF pilot in a tragic accident near RAF Coningsby today,’ a Royal Air Force statement said. “The pilot’s family have been informed and we ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

Lincolnshire Police also confirmed the development, saying the pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft and nobody else is thought to have been injured as a result.

“Sadly, the injuries the pilot sustained were not survivable and he was declared deceased at the scene. Investigations are ongoing into the cause,” the police said, and called on witnesses to share more information and footage.
