Nicosia: The Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade for July 2025 saw an increase of 5.2% compared to the same month in the previous year.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade for the same period increased by 8.7% compared to July of the previous year.
In terms of the Value Index, the category of Food, beverages, and tobacco in specialised stores experienced the largest growth, with an increase of 15.3%. Conversely, there was a notable decline in the Automotive fuel category, which fell by 5.7%.
Regarding the Volume Index, Food, beverages, and tobacco in specialised stores again led the way with a significant increase of 19.8%. This was followed by the Clothing and Footwear category, which saw a rise of 15.7%. The only category to experience a decline in volume in July was Cultural and recreation goods (books, stationery, sports equipment, toys), which recorded a decrease of 1%.
For the period from January to July 2025, when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade showed an increase of 6.4%, while the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade recorded a 7.2% increase.
