The Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade for July 2022 increased by 11.4% and the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade increased by 1.5%, compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
The largest increase in value was recorded in the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores, marking 26% from July 2021. Textiles, clothing, footwear follow with an increase of 13.8% and electrical household appliances, furniture, lighting, equipment, construction materials, etc. recorded an increase of 12.4%.
In contrast, the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores saw the largest decline in volume, recording a 14.4% decrease in July 2022 compared to July 2021. The largest increase in volume was recorded by sales of textiles, clothing and footwear, with 11.5%.
For the period January-July 2022, the value index is estimated to have recorded an increase of 11.9%, with the largest change recorded in the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores, up by 37.5% compared to the same period in 2021.
For the same period, the volume index increased by 2.3% compared to January-July 2021, with textiles, clothing and footwear recording the largest increase, by 21.6%.
