Repatriation of Cypriots from Israel and Iran Continues Amid Crisis

Nicosia: The repatriation of Cypriots from Israel and Iran continues, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

According to Cyprus News Agency, Letymbiotis stated that six Cypriots currently remain in Armenia after departing from Iran, with arrangements underway for their return to Cyprus. The latest Cypriot citizen traveled from Iran to Armenia today.

The spokesperson also reported that 31 individuals have been successfully repatriated from Israel. Recently, four patients accompanied by escorts arrived, followed by another group of five this morning.

In addition, Letymbiotis highlighted that through the national plan “Estia,” a total of 213 foreign nationals have been evacuated via Cyprus. The most recent flight landed at 2 a.m., bringing in five of the Cypriots who arrived this morning.

The Special National Plan ESTIA, implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, serves as a contingency plan to facilitate the safe evacuation of civilians from crisis areas in the wider Middle East region through Cyprus.

Furthermore, Letymbiotis assured that there were no Cypriot patients at Soroka Hospital in Berseva, a site recently impacted by Iranian missile strikes.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry announced on X that nine Cypriots and their families reached Cyprus via commercial flights from Athens. Their journey involved initial travel from Israel to Egypt, followed by transport to Greece aboard Hellenic Air Force aircraft.

In its X post, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude toward the Greek Government for its continued cooperation and swift action.

The Ministry continues to extend consular support to Cypriot citizens in Israel through its Embassy in Tel Aviv, urging them to re-register on the online platform http://connect2cy.gov.cy. Citizens in Israel have been provided contact information for assistance through the Cyprus Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Ministry’s various departments.
