The number of registered unemployed persons in Cyprus dropped by an annual 55.7% in December amounting to 14,800 persons.
According to data published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat) compared with December 2020 the registered unemployed dropped by 18,582 persons.
The reduction was mainly driven by the sector of accommodation and food service activities, where the jobless declined by 3,947 persons, followed by trade with a decrease of 3,839, manufacturing with 1,247, construction with 1,064, transportation and storage with 946, as well as to the decrease of 1,479 persons recorded in newcomers in the labour market.
