Nicosia: The number of registered unemployed individuals in Nicosia saw a significant decrease in August 2025, with a 4.3% reduction compared to the previous year, August 2024. This translates into 523 fewer unemployed persons, as reported by the Statistical Service.
According to Cyprus News Agency, this decline in unemployment is largely attributed to various sectors, including education, trade, construction, and financial and insurance activities. Additionally, there was a noted decrease in newcomers entering the labour market, further contributing to the reduction in unemployment figures.
On the last day of August 2025, the total number of unemployed persons registered at District Labour Offices stood at 11,556. However, when considering seasonally adjusted data that indicate the overall trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed rose slightly to 10,225 in August 2025, compared to 10,149 in July 2025.
