Madrid: Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna discussed Cyprus’ preparations for its EU Presidency in 2026 and key priorities on the EU agenda, with her Spanish counterpart Fernando Sampedro Marcos in Madrid. Raouna is in Madrid accompanying Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides in the framework of visits to the EU member states, ahead of Cyprus’ EU Presidency.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Raouna and her team will head to Portugal for consultations on Tuesday. Raouna posted on X that it is always a pleasure to meet with her Spanish counterpart, this time in the margins of President Christodoulides’ visit.
“We discussed Cyprus’ preparations for the EU Presidency and key priorities on the EU agenda, also from our perspective as Mediterranean EU Member States, focusing, inter alia, on the new MFF, migration, energy security, cohesion policy, water management, EU-UK relations, and EU relations with the Southern Neighbourhood”, she posted.
The Deputy Minister said she is looking forward to advancing these critical issues together in view of Cyprus’ EU Presidency.
