Rainfall Levels Significantly Below Average in Early September

Nicosia: The average rainfall for the areas controlled by the Republic is recorded at 16% of the normal for the month, as of Monday morning, closing the first week of September significantly lower than the average. Specifically, the average rainfall since the beginning of the month has reached only 0.7 mm, compared to the normal average rainfall of 4.5 mm. Almost entirely, the recorded values were noted in the mountainous areas over the last three days.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the largest amount was recorded in Saittas with 9.9 mm, at 96% of the normal for the month in the area. Following is Prodromos with 7.2 mm at 72% of the normal. In Platania, 4.9 mm was recorded, at 53% of the normal.

As of October 1, 2025, up until now the average rainfall recorded in the areas controlled by the Republic corresponds to 121% of the normal for the period, with 609 mm.
