Nicosia: The International Coordinating Committee 'Justice for Cyprus' has called for the immediate implementation of United Nations resolutions on the withdrawal of Turkish troops, the return of Famagusta, and the reunification of Cyprus, in a letter addressed to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Greek Cypriots of the Diaspora congratulated the Cypriot government, stating it had demonstrated to the world that Cyprus is a solution for the European Union and America. The letter highlights the celebration by Americans of the 3+1 agreement and the recognition by the European Union, through 'Amalthea,' of Cyprus's significant role as a bridge to the Middle East.
The Committee emphasized the need for justice after '52 years of endless, fruitless negotiations' and called for the immediate implementation of UN resolutions for the withdrawal of Turkish troops and reunification of the island as a member of the European Union. The letter also demanded the return of Famagusta and accountability for Turkey's actions in the occupied area, including allegations of demographic changes and illegal activities.
According to the Committee, preserving the value of Cyprus for the European Union and the United States requires recognizing the ongoing illegal invasion and occupation. The Greek Cypriots of the Diaspora, numbering 500,000 worldwide, expressed their support for Cyprus as a solution, not a problem, and identified Turkey as the real issue within NATO and the Western world, due to its continued occupation of 36% of Cyprus's territory.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to ending the occupation in its annual conference, expressing hope and determination towards achieving a free, united Cyprus. The letter concluded with a message of enduring hope and commitment, signed by Philip Christopher.
