Nicosia: Inflation in July 2026 stood at 2.9%, the Statistical Service of Cyprus said Thursday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July 2026 decreased by 0.68 points, reaching 102.32 units compared with 103.00 in June 2026. The figures reveal the largest increases compared to July 2025 were recorded in Petroleum Products at 12.2% and Agricultural Goods at 8.2%, while Industrial Goods saw a decrease of 0.5%.
Compared to June 2026, the economic category of Electricity and Water saw the largest increase at 5.3%, while Petroleum Products experienced a decrease of 5.7%. Year-on-year changes highlighted significant movements in categories such as Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels with a rise of 7.2%, Transport increasing by 6.0%, while Clothing and Footwear showed a decline of 5.9%.
In terms of monthly changes, Clothing and Footwear saw a substantial decrease of 10.7%, whereas Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels increased by 1.2%. The largest positive contributions to the CPI change from July 2025 to July 2026 were noted in Restaurants and Accommodation Services at 3.14, Recreation, Sports and Culture at 2.82, and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 1.86. Conversely, Health, Information and Communication, and Clothing and Footwear made notable negative contributions.
Furthermore, the largest monthly impact was observed in the categories of Clothing and Footwear, Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels, and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages. Recreation Services and Mobile Communication Services had significant contributions to the year-on-year CPI changes. Additionally, Passenger Transport by Air and Clothing had the largest impacts on the monthly CPI changes.
