Pano kivides: For the government of Nikos Christodoulides, supporting rural areas and promoting cultural heritage is a key policy priority, as it strengthens the local economy and contributes significantly to the sustainable development of communities, Deputy Shipping Minister Marina Hadjimanoli stated in her opening remarks at the 2nd Resi Festival in Pano Kivides, Limassol District. The festival celebrates resi, a traditional Cypriot dish made from wheat.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Deputy Minister emphasized that rural communities in Cyprus have the opportunity to take the lead, showcase their region, and create meaningful and forward-looking institutions. She highlighted that resi is a prime example of how gastronomy is inextricably linked to the history and social life of the region.
Hadjimanoli further explained that promoting Cypriot gastronomy and local products is a key pillar for strengthening the tourism identity, creating new opportunities for communities, and contributing to the diversification of the tourism product.
She assured that efforts would continue to ensure such initiatives are strengthened and gain more momentum. "We believe that development is not limited to urban centers. It is found here, in the communities, in the people, in the land that is cultivated, and in the traditions that continue," she concluded.
