Nicosia: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will meet on August 18 with specialists from the U.S. federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis told CNA.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the American experts, who are in Cyprus to assist in investigating and assessing the handling of July’s deadly wildfire in Limassol, will brief the President once they have completed their inquiries and will present preliminary findings.
A detailed report will be prepared in the weeks that follow. The ten-member ATF team from the US Department of Justice is currently continuing on-site investigations into the devastating fire. The team, in Cyprus at the invitation of President Christodoulides, comprises specialized arson and accident investigators.
