President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides said on Saturday that he fervently believes in the unifying force of the EU, as we strive to end the Turkish occupation and reunify the last divided EU member state. The President, who was replying on the platform 'X' to a post by President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on the occassion of the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion against Cyprus, said that "the EU is our space of security, our shield". "Thank you dear Ursula von der Leyen. The EU is our space of security, our shield. I fervently believe in the unifying force of our common home, the EU, as we strive, with the support and solidarity of the Union, to end the Turkish occupation and reunify the last divided EU member state" the President wrote on 'X'.
