Nicosia: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, has called on citizens to visit the diakivernisi.gov.cy platform to be informed and assess for themselves whether the government’s actions match its words, emphasizing that criticism is welcome.
According to Cyprus News Agency, in a video posted on social media, the President stated that in every modern state, citizens have the right to be informed about government policies, particularly those that affect their daily lives. He highlighted the introduction of the annual presentation of the government’s programme at the beginning of each year as part of the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability. This initiative is aimed at giving citizens the opportunity to monitor, scrutinize, and evaluate the government’s actions on a daily basis.
Building on this commitment, the government launched the diakivernisi.gov.cy online platform. This platform allows citizens, the media, and any interested groups to monitor in real time the progress of government projects, providing a wide array of important information about government policies. President Christodoulides invited citizens to use the platform to ensure that the government’s actions are consistent with its words.
The President reiterated that transparency and accountability are fundamental obligations of the government. He encouraged citizens to provide comments and criticism to help the government improve its efficiency and effectiveness, ultimately for the betterment of society.
