Nicosia: President Nikos Christodoulides is scheduled to meet with the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy on Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguin, today as part of ongoing efforts to revive Cyprus negotiations. Holguin, who arrived on the island Thursday night, is intensifying her efforts in a series of diplomatic engagements.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the meeting, taking place at the Presidential Palace at 10 a.m., aims to outline the immediate steps needed to advance the negotiation process. This dialogue comes ahead of several planned joint initiatives under the auspices of the United Nations.
On the previous day, Holguin met with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhrman in the north. This encounter marked their first in-person meeting since last month’s videoconference, which also included President Christodoulides.
Moreover, on 11 December, President Christodoulides and Erhrman are set to visit the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) together. This visit will be followed by a joint meeting with Holguin, as confirmed by UN spokesperson in Cyprus, Alim Siddique.
