President Christodoulides Inaugurates Bust and Commemorates Events in Thessaloniki.

Thessaloniki: Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is in Thessaloniki for a series of important events, beginning with the inauguration of a preserved bust of EOKA hero Kyriakos Matsis at Aristoteleion University. This visit marks a significant moment in honoring historical figures and strengthening ties between Cyprus and Greece.

According to Cyprus News Agency, later in the afternoon, President Christodoulides will participate as a speaker at an event organized by the Macedonian Studies Society. The event is set to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, highlighting the historical significance and the impact of this event on the region.

Following this, the President will inaugurate a conference organized by the Diocese of Kalamaria, the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedion, and the Region of Central Macedonia. The conference, titled “Cyprus and Romiosini,” aims to explore the cultural and historical ties between Cyprus and the broader Greek community.

s is scheduled to return to Athens tomorrow. There, he will attend an event at the Cultural Conference Center of the Municipality of Hellinikon – Argyroupoli “Mikis Theodorakis.” This event, organized by the Municipality and the Union of Pontiacs of Argyroupoli, is titled “Ambassadors of Pontic Hellenism” and focuses on the contributions of the Pontic Greek community.

Before arriving in Thessaloniki, President Christodoulides met with Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens. During their meeting, the President briefed the Greek Premier on his recent discussions in Washington DC with US President Joe Biden.
