President Christodoulides Extends Support to Commonwealth Games Athletes

Nicosia: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, congratulated on Monday the Cypriot athletes who participated in the Commonwealth Games "Glasgow 2026", assuring of the government's support in Cypriot sports. "With feelings of pride, I warmly congratulate our athletes who represented the Republic of Cyprus at the Commonwealth Games 'Glasgow 2026'," he said in a written statement.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Cyprus secured the 14th position in the medal table, achieving 1 gold, 5 silver, and 6 bronze, in an event that featured over 3,000 athletes from 72 countries. The President remarked that the participation, distinctions, and overall efforts of Cypriot athletes at the Games are the result of their hard work and sacrifices, highlighting the high level of sports in Cyprus.

The President emphasized the state's active support for all athletes through the Cyprus Sports Organization. He extended his congratulations to the coaches, the Federations, and the Cyprus Olympic Committee, while also expressing gratitude to the families of the athletes for their constant support.

In conclusion, President Christodoulides wished all athletes even greater success in the future and reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting Cypriot sports.
