Toronto: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, held a meeting on Friday with founder, Chairman, and CEO of Fairfax, Prem Watsa, in Toronto, Canada. He participated in a Round Table Discussion with leading Canadian businessmen and investors, during which he presented the comparative advantages of Cyprus and the Cypriot economy as a quality investments destination.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the meeting highlights the potential for further attracting investments from international companies such as Fairfax, in the financial sector but also in strategic sectors of the Cypriot economy such as technology, renewable energy sources, and infrastructure, as stated by Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis in a post on ‘X’. Investments, he added, that boost growth, create new jobs, and strengthen international confidence in Cyprus as an attractive, high-quality investment destination.
Letymbiotis noted that Fairfax is one of the most important international investors with an active presence in Cyprus, serving as the main shareholder of Eurobank, which recently acquired Hellenic Bank in one of the largest foreign investments in the country in recent years.
In another post on ‘X’, the Spokesman mentioned that the President participated in a Round Table Discussion with leading Canadian businessmen and investors, guests of Fairfax, during which he presented the comparative advantages of Cyprus and the Cypriot economy as a quality investments destination.
The Spokesman pointed out that the President underlined the country’s strategic geographical location, the stable and attractive tax and investment framework, the resilience of the financial sector, as well as the dynamic prospects in areas such as innovation, new technologies, renewable energy sources, and real estate development. “Cyprus is emerging as a reliable and attractive partner for quality and strategic investments,” Letymbiotis concluded.
