A preliminary study for the creation of a photovoltaic park in the buffer zone is still ongoing, Government Spokesperson Marios Pelekanos told CNA on Saturday.
Asked about an announcement by the Turkish Cypriot side on Friday regarding the launch of a preliminary study for the construction of a 30/50 MW photovoltaic park in the buffer zone, Pelekanos said the preliminary study process emerged after consultations between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides with the United Nations and the European Union.
He said that the preparation of the preliminary study is still ongoing, adding that once it is completed, it will be possible to determine the next steps.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results.
