Police announce 168 repatriations of illegal immigrants in a week

The Cyprus Police announced on Friday that more than 160 people, who were staying illegally in Cyprus, were deported in the last week and repatriated to their countries of origin.

It notes that through voluntary and forced return procedures, 168 immigrants who resided illegally in Cyprus were repatriated during the last week, 130 through the voluntary return process and 38 through the forced return process.

From the beginning of 2024 until the 10th of September 2024, 7,338 persons, who resided illegally in Cyprus, have been repatriated, while the number in the corresponding period last year, stood at 6,491.

Concluding, it says that it continues to focus its efforts on maximizing the number of repatriations of third country nationals residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus, in coordination with other competent services.
