NICOSIA: The Poland-Denmark-Cyprus trio has announced its commitment to strengthening the European Union through enhanced security, competitiveness, prosperity, and democracy. The declaration comes as Poland assumes the Presidency of the Council of the EU, marking the start of a collaborative effort that will extend through Cyprus’ term in the first half of 2026.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Cyprus’ Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, expressed optimism and determination in a post on ‘X’, welcoming the new year and the Presidency trio’s alignment. Raouna emphasized the trio’s goal of delivering more benefits to EU citizens and increasing the EU’s influence on the global stage.
The collaborative presidency aims to address various challenges facing the European Union, including economic stability, security concerns, and democratic governance. With Cyprus set to lead in 2026, the trio is preparing to implement strategies that will enhance the EU’s role and effectiveness both within its borders and internationally.
