Nicosia: High temperatures coupled with humidity are expected to continue across Cyprus in the coming days, at least until Wednesday, according to Cyprus News Agency. This information was shared by Meteorological Officer Matthaios Papadakis, who discussed the ongoing weather conditions and their potential persistence or intensification.
According to Cyprus News Agency, there is 'certainly a possibility' that the high temperatures and humidity may persist or even intensify in the near future. He emphasized that developments in weather patterns would continue to be closely monitored. Papadakis highlighted that the combination of high temperatures and humidity would create particularly challenging conditions in some areas, especially along the coast.
The meteorological officer explained that while temperatures in Nicosia are expected to hover around 40°C, the coastal regions will face increased difficulties due to higher humidity levels. A yellow heatwave warning was issued for Saturday, with inland temperatures predicted to reach 40°C.
In response to inquiries about potential new temperature records, Papadakis indicated that temperatures are likely to remain 'around the same levels over the next few days'. He compared the current situation to a similar weather event experienced in early August, noting that temperatures are 'slightly above normal'.
Papadakis assured that the weather would remain mainly clear, with these conditions persisting at least until Wednesday. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions during this period of heightened temperatures and humidity.
