Larnaka: Passenger traffic in April 2025 exceeded one million for the first time, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works stressed on Tuesday, adding that the percentage increase, compared to the corresponding period in 2024, amounts to 20.66%.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Ministry of Transport noted that Larnaka and Paphos airports welcomed 1,157,414 passengers during April 2025, recording a significant increase of 20.66% compared to the corresponding period in 2024. It added that for the January – April period, the highest passenger traffic has been recorded with an increase of 11.83% compared to 2024.
The Ministry further elaborated that the volume of passengers at Larnaka airport increased by 23.05%, and at Paphos airport by 15.51% compared to 2024.
The main markets contributing to this surge, it continued, are the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Poland, and Germany. Aircraft traffic also increased by 12.68% compared to 2024, reaching 8,756 flights.
The largest increase in absolute numbers was recorded at Larnaka Airport on routes with Israel, the United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, and Armenia. Paphos Airport saw growth in routes with Israel, the United Kingdom, Jordan, Poland, and Germany.
However, the Ministry also noted a decrease in passenger numbers at Larnaka Airport from Finland, Belgium, Jordan, Lithuania, and Estonia, while Paphos Airport experienced declines from France, Estonia, Slovakia, Greece, and Romania.
The Ministry expressed satisfaction with the results and thanked all involved for their collective effort to extend the tourist season.
