Paphos: Paphos FC is set to depart for Belgrade on Monday morning in anticipation of their crucial UEFA Champions League play-off match against FK Crvena Zvezda, which will take place tomorrow at 22:00 at the Raiko Mitic Stadium. This marks a significant milestone for Paphos FC as they make their debut in the Champions League play-offs, joining the ranks of Cypriot teams such as Anorthosis, APOEL, AEL, and Omonia who have reached this stage before.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the second leg of the play-off is scheduled to be held on August 26 at 10 p.m. at the Alphamega Stadium. Paphos FC aims to follow in the footsteps of Anorthosis and APOEL by advancing beyond the qualifying rounds in the Champions League, a feat that would establish them as only the third Cypriot team to do so.
The officiating team for the match has been confirmed, with Alejandro Hernández appointed as the referee, assisted by José Naranjo and Diego Sánchez Rojo. The fourth official will be José Luis Munuera, and the VAR duties wil
l be handled by Carlos del Cerro Grande, with Valentín Gómez as AVAR, all hailing from Spain.
This upcoming fixture marks the first European encounter between Paphos FC and FK Crvena Zvezda. Historically, Red Star holds three wins and six draws against Cypriot teams in European competitions. For Paphos, this match represents their inaugural face-off against a Serbian team in a UEFA competition, adding a layer of excitement to this historic event.
