Nicosia: Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis expressed his satisfaction with the tourism statistics for October, stating that it is the first time arrivals in October have exceeded half a million. He also stressed that the period January-October 2025 was ‘the best ten-month period in the history of our country’s tourism.’
According to Cyprus News Agency, Koumis highlighted that the October statistics not only confirm the strong performance of Cyprus’s tourism sector but also underscore the significant progress made in extending the tourism season. This extension is seen as a crucial step towards transforming Cyprus into a year-round tourist destination.
Specifically, Koumis noted that surpassing half a million arrivals in October was anticipated, and the achievement brings significant satisfaction. This milestone represents a major accomplishment, particularly when compared to previous years, with a 17.1% increase from last year and a 34.2% increase over a three-year period.
Koumis emphasized the importance of the ‘shoulder-months’ gaining momentum akin to the summer months, enabling destinations and tourism businesses to remain open longer. He urged businesses to adapt to the new tourism realities and make informed decisions in light of these changes.
Regarding the ten-month results, the Minister pointed out that the period from January to October 2025 marks the best in the history of Cyprus’s tourism. An 11.1% increase compared to the previous year and a 40.8% increase over three years reflect results that undoubtedly gratify the government, according to the Deputy Minister.
Koumis concluded by stating that the government has worked methodically and in a coordinated manner to achieve these goals. Efforts focused on improving air connectivity, implementing targeted digital promotion actions, and launching incentive schemes that emphasize special forms of tourism and the winter period.
