Number of cases and hospitalisations down, Minister says, next week more decisions on COVID measures

The number of COVID-19 cases has fallen significantly while in the last two days there is also a drop in hospitalisations, Minister of Health Michalis Hadjipantela said on Thursday.

Invited to comment on the meeting he will hold on Monday with the members of the scientific advisory committee on COVID-19, the Minister said that he will listen to the views of the experts and in the event they advise for more relaxations of COVID-19 measures, then the matter will be discussed at Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting which will make its decision.

Replying to questions, Hadjipantela noted that the number of cases has decreased significantly, while in the last two days there has been a significant reduction in the number of patients who need hospital treatment.

Concluding, he said that if this positive trend continues and there is no new variant, then Cyprus will be able to abolish measures as is the case in many other countries.
