Nicosia: The number of building permits authorized in February 2025 was recorded at 562, showing a decrease of 20.4% compared to 706 permits issued in February 2024, as reported by the Statistical Service on Thursday. The total value of these permits amounted to £296.3 million, with a total area of 237.2 thousand square meters. These permits cover the construction of 1,094 dwelling units.
According to Cyprus News Agency, during the January to February 2025 period, 1,008 building permits were issued, compared to 1,293 in the same period of the previous year, indicating a decrease of 22%. However, the total value of these permits saw an increase of 12.1%, and the total area increased by 6.6%. The number of dwelling units also increased by 10.2%.
The Statistical Service noted that as of July 1st, 2024, the responsibility for issuing building permits was transferred from municipalities and district administration offices to the newly established Local Government Organisations (LGOs). The licensing process is now conducted through the new integrated information system ‘Ippodamos’.
