Nicosia: The Nicosia International Festival 2025 is set to commence on September 14, featuring an array of theatre, music, and contemporary dance performances, alongside a diverse parallel programme. The festival will begin with an electronic music party, marking the start of its 6th edition.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Municipality of Nicosia and Nicosia For Art, co-organisers of the festival, announced the programme details and revealed a new festival logo during a press conference on Wednesday. The festival will continue its collaboration with Greece’s National Opera and the artistic director of its Ballet, Konstantinos Rigos, with the production ‘Golden Age’ scheduled to open on September 18 and 19.
The programme also includes a performance by renowned Greek director Theodoros Terzopoulos in a production of ‘Waiting for Godot’ by Emillia Romagna Teatro. Additionally, the Yugoslav Drama Theatre will present ‘Michael Kohlhaas’, directed by Boris Lije‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡evic. A memorandum of cooperation was signed with the Municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia, marking the beginning of collaborative efforts through the festival.
The festival will officially kick off with an electronic music party, open to the public, outside the Nicosia Municipal Theater. The organisers have incorporated multimedia elements into this year’s festival, including audiovisual performances that blend music, singing, and text narration.
