Nicosia: Nicosia is set to host the second Intergovernmental Summit between Cyprus and Greece, along with the Cyprus-Greece-Jordan Trilateral Summit on Wednesday. The events will take place at the Presidential Palace, with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis leading the intergovernmental discussions. This summit will include the participation of ministers from both countries’ governments.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Cyprus-Greece-Jordan Trilateral Summit, which follows the last one held in Athens in July 2021, will see the participation of President Christodoulides, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, and Prime Minister Mitsotakis. Prior to the Intergovernmental Summit, leaders from Cyprus and Greece will address the 2nd Business Conference organized in Nicosia, supported by the Chambers of Commerce of both countries.
Post-conference, both leaders will engage in the Intergovernmental Summit, where they will address the media. The summit agenda covers topics
such as the Cyprus issue, digital transition, labor and social policy cooperation, education, health, shipping, culture, and defense. There will also be bilateral meetings between Cypriot and Greek ministers.
The Trilateral Summit, scheduled at noon as a working lunch, will include a private meeting among the three leaders. The discussions will review the implementation of previous trilateral cooperation initiatives, including the establishment of a Permanent Secretariat for trilateral coordination in Cyprus, regional firefighting cooperation, and collaborations on education and investments.
The summit will also focus on regional developments, the Cyprus problem, and EU-Jordan relations. The participating countries are expected to sign Memoranda of Understanding regarding education, water management, and investments.
