Nicosia: Cyprus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs has voiced its ‘gravest concern’ over the announced expansion of military operations in Gaza, warning that it will ‘exacerbate civilian suffering and lead to even further escalation’.
According to Cyprus News Agency, in a post on ‘X’, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the urgency of an immediate ceasefire, the unconditional release of all hostages, and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid ‘at massive scale’ in line with humanitarian principles.
The Ministry emphasized that ‘Hamas must disarm and no terrorist group can ever have any role in Gaza. The territorial and demographic status of the Gaza Strip must remain grounded in international law.’
It also reaffirmed Cyprus’ position that a two-state solution is the only sustainable path to lasting peace and security.
