Nicosia and Athens Maintain Coordination on Cyprus Issue After Leaders’ Phone Call

Nicosia: Nicosia and Athens remain in full coordination on the Cyprus issue, the Greek government said following a phone exchange between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Christodoulides.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the latest developments in the Cyprus issue were discussed during the conversation. President Christodoulides briefed PM Mitsotakis ahead of his meeting today with the Turkish Cypriot leader, in the presence of the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Cyprus, Mar­angela Holgu­n, with the aim of resuming negotiations.

"Nicosia and Athens remain in full coordination, moving steadily towards a solution to the Cyprus issue on the basis of the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, the principles and values of the European Union and the European acquis," according to the announcement by the Maximos Mansion.

Finally, the two leaders exchanged views ahead of the upcoming visit of the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy to Athens.
