Nicosia: A new yellow warning was issued by the Department of Meteorology for extreme maximum temperature on Friday. The warning will be in effect from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. According to Cyprus News Agency, the temperature is expected to rise up to 40 degrees Celsius in the interior, at around 33 degrees in the western and southwestern coastal areas, at around 36 in the rest of the coastal areas, and at 31 degrees in the higher mountainous areas. In the evening, temperature will drop at around 24 degrees in the interior and in coastal areas, and at 19 degrees in the higher mountainous areas. Meanwhile, the risk of fire outbreaks remains at a red alert level, as announced by the Forestry Department.
