A new yellow warning for extreme high temperature on Thursday was issued today by the Department of Meteorology. According to an announcement, the warning is valid from 11.00 am until 5.00 pm (local time) on Thursday. Maximum temperatures are expected to rise to around 40 degrees Celsius over inland areas and around 32 degrees Celsius over the higher mountainous areas. At the same time the risk for fires spreading on Thursday is “exceptionally high” for all forest areas, the Department of Forests announced today. The public is urged to be particularly cautious and completely avoid any actions or activities that could cause fire, the announcement says.
