Nicosia: Quite a few new faces, along with others who also served in the previous House of Representatives, have secured seats in the new legislature, according to the results of the preferential vote count in Sunday's parliamentary elections.
According to Cyprus News Agency, in the Nicosia district, the Democratic Rally (DISY) and the Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL) each secured five seats. The Democratic Party (DIKO) and National Peoples' Front (ELAM) obtained three seats each, while ALMA won two seats and Direct Democracy secured one.
From DISY, Dimitris Demetriou, Giorgos Pamboridis, Savia Orphanidou, Andreas Constantinou, and Charalambos Petrides were elected. AKEL's elected candidates include the party's General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou, along with Christos Christofides, Aristos Damianou, George Loucaides, and Constantinos Constantinou.
In Nicosia, ELAM's seats were taken by party president Christos Christou, Marios Pelekanos, and Andreas Papacharalambous. DIKO's seats were won by its leader Nikolas Papadopoulos, Christiana Erotokritou, and Chrysis Pantelides. ALMA saw party president Odysseas Michaelides and Irene Charalambidou elected. Direct Democracy's seat was claimed by MEP Fidias Panayiotou, with Yiannis Laouris as a potential alternate.
In the Limassol district, DISY secured four seats with Fotini Tsiridou, Giorgos Karaiskakis, Michalis Fellas, and Michalis Kounounis elected. AKEL's seats went to Efraim Christou, Marina Nikolaou, and Argentoula Ioannou. ELAM's Polys Anogyriatis and Evgenios Chamboullas were elected, while DIKO's Panikos Leonidou, Direct Democracy's Dimitris Souglis, and ALMA's Michalis Paraskeva also secured seats.
In Famagusta, DISY's representatives are Giorgos Karoullas, Nikos Georgiou, and Georgios Lysandridis. AKEL's elected candidates include Nikos Kettiros, Giorgos Koukoumas, and Giannakis Gavriel. ELAM secured seats with Linos Papagiannis and Linos Ioannis Hadzigeorgiou, while DIKO's Zacharias Koulias and Direct Democracy's Diana Lucia Constantinidou also gained seats. ALMA's representative is Theodoulitsa (Litsa) Drousiotou.
In Kyrenia, AKEL's Anastasia Hasikou, DISY's Demos Georgiades, and DIKO's Adamos Aspris were elected. In Larnaca, DISY's seats went to Annita Demetriou and Prodromos Alambritis, while AKEL's Andreas Pasiourtides and Panikos Xiourouppas were elected. DIKO's seat was won by Andreas Apostolou and ELAM's by Sotiris Ioannou.
Lastly, in Paphos, DISY's Charalambos Pazaros and Nicoletta Constantinou were elected. AKEL's Valentinos Fakontis, DIKO's Chrysanthos Savvides, and Direct Democracy's Dimitris Baros also secured seats.
