Nicosia: The Multinational Civil-Military Cooperation Exercise “Argonaut 2025” is taking place from Monday to Thursday this week.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the exercise will be conducted in three phases across the maritime, aerial, and land domains within the Republic of Cyprus’s Flight Information Region (FIR) and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The planning, execution, and overall coordination of the exercise are being managed by the National Guard. They are working in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center to ensure comprehensive coverage and efficiency. A large number of government agencies are participating, alongside personnel and aeronautical and naval assets from both the Republic of Cyprus and several foreign countries.
The Ministry of Defence announced that within the framework of the exercise, the Special National Plans ‘ESTIA’ and ‘TEFKROS’ will be implemented and evaluated. These plans focus on the reception of civilians from neighboring conflict zones and the response to Search and Rescue incidents within Cyprus’s area of responsibility.
A significant number of foreign observers are present to witness the operations, providing an international perspective on the exercise’s effectiveness and coordination, as noted in the Defence Ministry’s press release.
