Nicosia: Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Haris Georgiades, met with parliamentary associates of the US House of Representatives during their study visit to Cyprus.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Georgiades discussed the Cyprus issue, emphasizing the country’s recovery following the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. He highlighted that through hard work, Cyprus has become a significant business, technological, and educational hub, playing a crucial role in the development of business activities in the region.
Georgiades also stressed Cyprus’ Western orientation and its principled support for Ukraine, drawing parallels with the events in Cyprus in 1974. He expressed satisfaction with the enhanced Cyprus-US strategic cooperation in areas of mutual interest and underscored the importance of maintaining US interests in the region. He further emphasized Cyprus’ role as a pillar of stability and a reliable partner for the US.
