More Than 900 Syrians Withdraw Asylum Applications in Cyprus, Says Deputy Minister

Nicosia: Within a month, more than 900 Syrians have either withdrawn their asylum applications or revoked their international protection status to be repatriated, while 300 Syrians have already left Cyprus, Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, Nicholas A. Ioannides, announced in a post on the “X” platform.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Ioannides highlighted the ongoing movement of Syrians to the offices of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection. He noted that within the month, a significant number of Syrians opted to revoke their asylum requests or international protection to facilitate their return to their homeland.

He further mentioned that the officials of the Deputy Ministry are working diligently to assist those Syrians who express the desire to repatriate. The efforts are focused on ensuring a smooth process for those choosing to return to Syria, reflecting a notable shift in the migration dynamics within Cyprus.
