More Than 1,100 Syrian Minors Depart Cyprus Under Repatriation Scheme

Nicosia: A total of 1,127 Syrian minors, aged between 4 and 18, have left Cyprus since December 2024 as part of the voluntary repatriation programs initiated by the Deputy Ministry of Immigration and International Protection.

According to Cyprus News Agency, sources revealed that by August 28, around 4,100 Syrians were listed for voluntary departure, with 1,127 being minors. The successful implementation of these programs was attributed to the collaboration between the Deputy Ministry of Immigration and International Protection, the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, and the Aliens and Immigration Service of the Cyprus Police.

As a result of these joint efforts, nearly 9,000 third-country nationals have departed Cyprus from January to the end of August 2025. The initiative underscores the ongoing efforts by the Cypriot government to manage immigration and facilitate voluntary returns.
