Nicosia: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has praised the 'deep friendship' between Italy and Cyprus, following congratulations from President Nikos Christodoulides on her becoming the longest-serving Prime Minister in the history of the Italian Republic.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Meloni responded to the President in a post on X, expressing gratitude for his message and highlighting 'the importance of the deep friendship between Italy and Cyprus.' She emphasized the strengthened dialogue between the two nations, focusing on their collaborative efforts for a more stable and secure Mediterranean region.

Meloni remarked on the progress made in recent years, stating, 'In these years we have strengthened the dialogue between our Nations, working together for a more stable and secure Mediterranean and for a Europe capable of enhancing the strategic role of the Countries most exposed to the challenges of the region.' She expressed pride in the shared journey and collaboration between Italy and Cyprus, confident in its continued growth and its potential to yield significant benefits for both nations' citizens.
