Kuwait’s organization to send humanitarian aid to Gaza via “Amalthea” corridor

Approximately 200 tons of humanitarian aid for the civilian population of Gaza will be sent through the humanitarian maritime corridor “Amalthea” by a delegation of the “Al-Salam Association for humanitarian and charitable works” of Kuwait to the port of Ashdod.

A press release issued by the Embassy of Kuwait in Nicosia stated that “in order to participate in the “Amalthea” initiative, the delegation of the “Al-Salam Association for humanitarian and charitable works” of Kuwait arrived in Cyprus.

The Kuwaiti delegation intends to send various products and goods (about 200 tons), which have been collected from the local market of Cyprus, as humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza through the sea corridor, as it is noted.

The Spokesman of Cyprus’ Foreign Ministry Theodoros Gotsis told CNA last week that negotiations were underway with the interested parties, including the Israeli authorities, to make the most of Ashdod port.

The mission to get humanitarian aid to Gaza via the temporary JLOTS pier
has ended, the deputy commander of U.S. Central Command told the news media on Wednesday, and the aid will now flow to Gaza from US vessels that sail from Cyprus to Ashdod, Israel, and then trucked into the northern Gaza border crossing with Israel.
