Nicosia: Future planning in the tourism sector, air connectivity, and the main goal to turn Cyprus into a year-round destination were key topics at a meeting between Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis and the new leadership of the hoteliers' association, PASYXE.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Koumis emphasized during the meeting that protecting and sustainably managing tourist destinations is a significant challenge following the crisis in the sector. Both the Deputy Minister and the hoteliers expressed satisfaction with the actions undertaken to address these issues.
The meeting agenda included discussions on exploring new tourist markets for Cyprus and reinforcing existing ones, along with strategies for promoting the country internationally. Koumis highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in the 'Destination Stewardship' effort, noting past successful outcomes from such partnerships.
PASYXE Head Yiannos Pantazis affirmed the mutual understanding that success in the tourism sector is dependent on effective cooperation between the public and private sectors. He mentioned ongoing efforts to ensure the sector's performance in 2027 aligns with the results achieved in 2025.
