Nicosia: Cyprus’ Foreign Minister, Constantinos Kombos, on Thursday in a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, welcomed the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan as an important step towards ending decades of conflict in the South Caucasus.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Cyprus’ Foreign Ministry noted in a post on X that Kombos had ‘a constructive phone call’ with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. During the conversation, he congratulated Mirzoyan on the signing of the Joint Declaration and the initialing of the Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The ministry highlighted these developments as significant steps towards ending the longstanding conflict in the region.
Kombos also emphasized Cyprus’ readiness to contribute to the peace process during Cyprus’ upcoming EU Presidency. The ministers took the opportunity to review Cyprus-Armenia bilateral relations and discussed prospects for enhanced regional cooperation and economic integration.
